Featured ADS-B Feeder of October 2025: Carlos Manuel Soliman

Carlos, AirNav ADS-B Feeder, from La Romana, Dominican Republic
This October, we feature Carlos Manuel Soliman, whose extensive experience in aviation and dedication to aircraft tracking bring valuable insights to the AirNav Radar network. Carlos shares, “I’ve been a feeder since January 28, 2018. My antenna stands 35 feet above the ground, just 10.8 km from La Romana International Airport in the Dominican Republic,” emphasizing the strategic location that allows him to contribute meaningful flight data to the community.
La Romana, Dominican Republic
La Romana is a municipality and the capital of the southeastern province of La Romana, opposite Catalina Island. It is one of the 10 largest cities in the Dominican Republic, with a population estimated in 2022 at 153,241 within the city limits (metropolitan population: 270,000), comprising 149,840 urban residents and 3,401 rural residents.

Carlos' Setup
For those looking to set up their own ADS-B stations, Carlos emphasizes the importance of height and location. “The higher and clearer your view of the horizon, the greater your reception range,” he says. Carlos uses high-quality, low-loss coaxial cable, keeps it as short as possible, seals all connections with waterproof tape, and ensures proper grounding—especially critical in areas prone to electrical storms or high humidity. Regularly checking your system and comparing coverage with nearby feeders can lead to minor adjustments that make a big difference.

A Passion for Aviation and Technology
Carlos discovered AirNav Radar online, inspired by his 19+ years of experience as a Flight Dispatcher and his lifelong interest in technologies for tracking and monitoring air traffic. “The best part of having an AirNav Radar station,” he shares, “is the access to advanced features that make monitoring aircraft easier and, most importantly, the pride of being part of a global network of users contributing to worldwide aircraft tracking.”
