India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has mandated urgent inspections of the fuel control switch locking mechanisms on all Boeing 787 and 737 aircraft operated by Indian carriers, following the deadly crash of Air India Flight AI171 last month.

A serious aviation accident has been reported involving Air India Flight AI171, which was en route from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (AMD) to London Gatwick (LGW). The flight, operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner registered as VT-ANB, reportedly crashed shortly after takeoff near the Meghani/Meghaninagar area in Gujarat.
