Sky Art Excellence: Pilot Amal Larhlid Wins Award For Crown Flight for Coronation

Amal Larhild's flight around the UK drawing a crown to celebrate the King's Coronation

In aviation, some take flight to new heights, literally and figuratively. Amal Larhlid, a skilled pilot, has recently soared into the spotlight, capturing the essence of royalty with her exceptional creativity and precision in the skies.

This talented aviator recently secured a prestigious honor – the British Women Pilots' Association Chairwoman's Trophy – for her remarkable Royal tribute. Using advanced aircraft tracking software, Amal piloted a PA-28 from White Waltham, Berkshire, during the weekend of the King's coronation in May. The result was a stunning crown-shaped flight path, with the historic city of Oxford at its majestic center.

The Chairwoman's Trophy, which requires entrants to align with the "crowning glory" theme, has now found a familiar place in Amal's hands for the second consecutive year. In 2022, she claimed the trophy for a similar flight that portrayed the profile of the late Queen in October. These achievements are even more noteworthy because both flights have contributed significantly to raising thousands of pounds for Hospice UK.

Drawing A Crown To Celebrate The King's Coronation: A Very Interesting Flight

In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Amal Larhlid expressed her gratitude, stating that winning the award for the "most creative and interesting flight of 2023" left her feeling "extremely humbled." She shared her belief in the power of pursuing ambitions and taking action, even when faced with less-than-perfect conditions.

According to a spokesperson from the British Women Pilots' Association, Amal Larhlid is not just a pilot but an enthusiastic student of sky art. Her inspiration for these breathtaking flights stems from the dynamic changes within the British monarchy. For her latest accomplishment, she meticulously flew a route that accurately depicted the crown worn by King Charles during his coronation in May 2023.
