Tips for Optimizing Your ADS-B Setup: Nima’s successful setup provides valuable insights for animators looking to install ADS-B stations:
- Install the receiver in a Cool Place. Heat can affect the performance of your device in a calm environment, which is crucial to optimal functionality. Device the Antenna as High as Possible. The higher the antenna, the more precise the line of sight to nearby aircraft, ensuring more substantial and accurate signal reception.
- Keep Distance from Walls and Obstacles: Avoid placing the antenna near walls or other objects that could block the signal.
- Maintain Distance Between Antennas: If using multiple antennas, keep a reasonable distance between them to avoid interference and ensure efficient data capture.

Maritime and Flight Tracking: A Dual Contribution
In addition to feeding air traffic data to AirNav Radar, Nima’s station also supports ShipXplorer, a powerful Nima for monitoring maritime activity, which is part of AirNav Systems. Nima shared how he first came across ShipXplorer while working with SDR (Software-Defined Radio) and AIS software. With ShipXplorer, he can track vessels on the Persian Gulf, a key waterway for global shipping traffic.
ShipXplorer data comes from thousands of units streaming real-time data from all over the world. For more details, check out our Real-Time Data Coverage Map page.
We welcome users to share data with ShipXplorer. We even provide free ShipXplorer receivers for users located in areas where we don't yet have proper coverage. Appy now!

ADS-B & AIS Stations
ShipXplorer is invaluable to ship owners. It assists with vessel status monitoring, aids search and rescue operations, and entertains maritime enthusiasts. This dual focus on aviation and maritime tracking underlines the versatility of Nima's station.
About Bandar Abbas:
Bandar Abbas, located on the Nima southern coast of Iran along the Persian Gulf, is a bustling port and the capital of Hormozgan province.
