United Airlines to Resume Daily Houston–Caracas Flights After Eight-Year Hiatus

United Airlines is set to return to Venezuela this summer, restoring nonstop service between its Houston hub and Caracas for the first time since 2017. Beginning August 11, the carrier will operate daily flights between George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Simón Bolívar International Airport (CCS), pending government approval.
The route marks a significant milestone for United, which previously served Venezuela for more than two decades before suspending operations amid the country’s political and economic challenges. With this reinstatement, United becomes the second U.S. airline in recent weeks to resume service to Venezuela, signaling a gradual reopening of air links between the two countries.
Flight Schedule and Aircraft
United’s initial timetable lists the following daily service:

Depart Houston (IAH): 23:45
Arrive Caracas (CCS): 05:30 (next day) - UA 1045
Depart Caracas (CCS): 08:00
Arrive Houston (IAH): 12:30
The route will be operated with a Boeing 737 MAX 8, featuring seatback entertainment screens with Bluetooth connectivity, streaming content options, enhanced overhead bin space, and upcoming Starlink Wi-Fi installation across the fleet.

Strengthening United’s Houston Hub
The reinstated Caracas service reinforces Houston’s role as a key international gateway for United. From IAH, the airline operates up to 100 daily flights to more than 50 destinations across Latin America and the Caribbean, with connections to over 180 cities worldwide.
The carrier is also investing heavily in its Houston operations, including a $2 billion Terminal B transformation project that will add 22 new mainline gates and expand United’s airport lounge footprint with a larger United Club.
The addition of Caracas further strengthens United’s Latin America network and reestablishes a historic route that previously supported business, energy-sector, family, and connecting traffic.
Broader U.S.–Venezuela Aviation Reopening
United’s announcement follows the recent resumption of U.S. commercial passenger flights to Venezuela, which restarted after years of suspension due to regulatory restrictions. The renewed air service reflects improving aviation ties and the lifting of previous federal limitations that had prevented U.S. carriers from operating flights to the country.
While the reopening is an important development for travelers, Venezuela remains subject to elevated travel advisories, and passengers are encouraged to review official guidance before planning trips.
