Two Delta Connection CRJ900 regional jets were involved in a low-speed collision Wednesday night at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, resulting in significant aircraft damage and at least one injury.
What Happened
According to Delta, flight DL5047 (N480PX) had just landed from Charlotte, North Carolina, carrying 61 people, when it was struck by flight DL5155 (N902XJ), which was taxiing for departure to Roanoke, Virginia, with 32 people onboard.

The impact tore part of a wing off one of the aircraft and damaged the cockpit structure of the other. A flight attendant aboard DL5047 was injured and transported to the hospital, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed.

Investigations Underway
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said the collision occurred at the intersection of two taxiways. A team of 10 investigators has been dispatched to LaGuardia, and flight recorders from both aircraft have already been recovered and sent to Washington for analysis.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) noted that air traffic controllers had instructed the Roanoke-bound jet to “hold short and yield” before the collision. However, it is not yet clear what led to the incident.
Airline Response
Delta described the event as a “low-speed collision” and said it is fully cooperating with federal investigators. Both aircraft are currently out of service pending inspection.
