Tomorrow, on October 9, 2025, the airline’s very first Airbus A350-900, named “Lausanne” (HB-IFA), will touch down in Zurich around 3 pm (Central European Time - CET) as flight LX5359 — marking the start of an exciting new era in SWISS’s long-haul fleet.

The A350 “Lausanne” is the first of ten Airbus A350-900 aircraft that have been ordered and will join the SWISS fleet by 2031, each featuring the stunning new ‘SWISS Senses’ cabin. This next-generation interior promises an elevated travel experience with enhanced comfort, modern design, and a distinctly Swiss touch.

Beyond comfort, the Airbus A350 represents a significant step forward in sustainability. The new long-haul twinjet consumes around 25% less fuel, produces 25% fewer CO₂ emissions, and generates up to 50% lower noise levels than previous-generation aircraft — a significant leap toward more responsible aviation.

Naming the first A350 “Lausanne” is a tribute to one of Switzerland’s most vibrant and international cities. Located on the shores of Lake Geneva, Lausanne is a hub of culture, innovation, and global connection — and home to the International Olympic Committee. With its beautiful lakeside views, charming Old Town, and rich arts scene, Lausanne perfectly reflects the spirit of progress and excellence that SWISS embodies.
